Ovo 102

The real joy of making colloidal gold with an Ovo.

You have read Ovo 101 and are prepared to make larger batches of 1-3 liters.

Remember,

This is an easy process once you get the few basics down.  The idea behind the calibration batch (though not difficult) is to ensure that everyone gets a feel for the process in the smallest volume so as to save wasted gold.

Remember, you are using your electrode (approx 450mg-7.5cm long-.65mm diameter .999 pure gold) and a 200ml batch at 20ppm (4mg) doesn't seem like much now but a 1 liter batch would be using 20mg and it adds up fast.

Once you are certain of your mixture, (soda water, 3% H202 and any additional mineral water) only then should you continue with these instructions.

Ok then :)

Go out to any store that sells kitchen stuff and find one of those large stainless kitchen tool holders.  (you can use glass) but what is important is your volume. (find something that holds at least 2 liters, trust me it's a good thing later on)

The container:

You do not have to use the entire volume but some things you want to avoid are:

1. Aluminum (no, it reacts with this process, in fact it seems to react with everything so don't use aluminum and food (IMHO) if you don't want aluminum oxides in your foodstuffs.

2. You can use less of a volume, in fact so long as those top reactor tube ports are submerged you can do just about anything.

3. Ultra Thick glass containers are not such a good idea because they tend to hold heat.  That is why Stainless steel is the first choice and of course mixing bowls work.. any shape tends to work so you can just find whatever might be in your kitchen inventory of containers, pots, pans, bowls it's just nice to have a dedicated vessel for this process.

How long is too long?:

Here is the trick.

When you first run your large batch temperature should no longer be an issue.

What you are looking for is the limit (CO2 is released as carbonic acid (H2CO3) is reacted to break down the gold.  At some point levels will drop below the working threshold of the process and the result is Blue colloidal gold.

SIDE NOTE: it's ok, not wrecked but it will fall out in less than 24 hours.. maybe only a few hours time.

What happens is, when the CO2 levels in the solution fall low enough the electrical charge that was so useful becomes a nano-gold particle threshing machine and starts forcing them together in a most unusual and blue colloidal gold making way.

The Quality of your soda water is what determines this cut off point where the gold particles are no longer free to be hydrated and happy.

The trick is just watch your batch every 15 minutes at least.

Use the 20ml medicine dropper to take a sample and check the color.

Figure about 2 hours for 1 liter and watch it like a hawk after that. (so you do have time to relax.. but the first few runs are always full of anticipation so who can relax right?)

Once you start to know when a batch starts to turn color for a given soda water you can just set your timer (about 30 minutes prior to that cut off time) and relax.. because after doing this once a week for several weeks you will want to simply set it and forget it until it's done.

Set it, forget it (might want a decent digital kitchen timer) is the end result of these details and taking the time to go through the steps.

For personal consumption most all process has been the use of electric arcs to vaporize the gold but the 3 big problems have always been:

1. Electric Shock - in truth, it's the nature of humans to flinch when they get a shock that causes the real safety issue, most Neon Sign Transformers may deliver 1,000s of volts but it's the current that ultimately gets you, these transformers only deliver 30-60ma of current (button batteries deliver around the same current.

High voltage is difficult to insulate so that is an expensive thing to make safe for just anyone to use.

2. Neon Sign electric arc systems tend to have very low vapor output. - The average output of a 12kv neon sign transformer is 1-2mg of gold particulate every hour.

1 Hour is a long time to wait when you have to tend to the very fine arc.  It is not a device that can be left by itself for very long if you ever want to make a few ounces of colloidal gold.

3. The learning curve (and you thought 2 pages of instruction were a lot...) was very steep.  So many things seem simple but in practice end up being like a second career.  (how do you think I ended up developing this process?)

FIN?:

If there are missing bits to the landscape please understand this is a complete re-work of the web site.

For lack of time doing a tedious update I opted to scrub the entire thing and do it from scratch.

Sometimes you just have to start over so this is the new foundation of the site.

If you have suggestions, many questions or something doesn't work (it happens, please let me know:) then email me:

I have lots more to add, photos and endless extras that are sure to amaze! :)
